Artist Description
Since 1st hearing Run-DMC's "You Talk Too Much" in 1985, Dixi Freely has been a huge fan of Hip Hop. However, it was Whodini's 1986 Back in Black album that sparked his aspirations to be an emcee. In 1992, he wrote and performed his first rap song along with two childhood friends for their middle school's Just Say No To Drugs Dare Week Program. The standing ovation and puppy love that followed, confirmed for Dixi that rapping was what he wanted to do.

Dixi Freely, born Jonathan Rowland, grew up in small blue-collar town Roanoke, AL, where having dreams of being an entertainer of any sort werefar-fetched. Consequently, like all the other kids, he settled for sports instead. After years of being a standout highschool student athlete in Football, Basketball and Track & Field, he earned a football scholarship to Alabama A&M University.

After graduating from college and wrapping up his football career, Dixi joined the American working class. After 7 years of enduring corporate politics, discrimination, layoffs and the never-ending rat race, he remembered that he only had one life to live. It was then that he decided to pick up the mic and start living his dream.
